A fond farewell and a joyful new beginning
14.01.2025
Christian Vaterlaus, who has built up marinecultures over many years with great commitment and passion, is slowly entering his well-deserved retirement. Fabienne Addor from Bern has been on site since January 2025 and will gradually take over the management of the company. Christian will continue to accompany the transition phase and take care of the completion of ongoing projects on the island of Pemba and on the mainland coast. This collaboration gives Fabienne the opportunity to gently grow into her new role and to internalize the marinecultures culture and our complex issues.
The team organized a surprise ceremony for Christian and Fabienne.
Team marinecultures and independent sponge farmers.
Fabienne's first day at work was an unforgettable experience. The marinecultures team, including 11 of the sponge farmers, had lovingly decorated the office to give her a fitting welcome. It was a moving moment full of singing, flowers were thrown and heartfelt words of thanks and appreciation were spoken. Fabienne and Christian were presented with many gifts, including a cake, which we ate together at the end.
For Fabienne, it is now time to settle in, acclimatize, look, listen and learn to understand how life and society works here. We would like to thank Christian for his exceptional work and dedication, which have made marinecultures what it is today. At the same time, we warmly welcome Fabienne and look forward to an exciting collaboration.
