We Have Won the Blue Champion Award!

The Blue Champions Award from the Blue Solutions organization aims to support outstanding practitioners around the globe who are committed to healthy oceans. It rewards those who believe that sharing knowledge and good practices is key to accelerating the changes needed for healthy oceans and sustainable development. We are very honored!
In late 2020, marinecultures.org received a call for assistance from the Institut National Des Sciences Et Technologies De La Mer (INSTM) of the Ministry of Fisheries of Tunisia. 2008 they had successfully cultured the sea sponges the first time that had been for centuries only dived, but had failed in their attempt to transfer the technique to Tunisian fishermen.
Thanks to the trophy money from the Blue Champion Award, we can now start in September with the INSTM and the Tunisian fishermen of Zarzis, Kerkennah and Djerba to build up the ecological cultivation of sponges as well as new sales channels.
Blue Solutions stands for Global Knowledge Exchange and Capacity Development for Marine and Coastal Biodiversity and is an initiative of the following top shots.
Selected from 26 participants from all continents, the five awardees received up to €10,000 for their 'project of change' coupled with increased funding and visibility for their solutions.
We are urgently looking for more support for the remaining funding of the pilot phase. Maybe you can help us and the Tunisian fishermen or forward this call.
