New Board & New Constitution

If the entire board is suddenly on site – Thomas and Doro Sacchi spend their sabbatical in the first half-year of 2016 in Zanzibar and support us actively – established things are watched and X-rayed exactly. Conclusion: The team performs impressively and the development in our projects is very pleasant. Nevertheless we decided to improve the structures of our board and to renew our constitution. Good governance is key.
Two New Heads and Hearts
Andrea Kleinert Patrick Walder
Andrea Kleinert is living in Winterthur and is working as secretary general in the department of applied linguistics of the ZHAW. She has experiences as a board member (www.childsdream.org), is familiar with the activities of small NGO's (North Thailand) and is interested how education can contribute to poverty reduction. This and her wish to advocate for a responsible handling of the natural resources are ideal prerequisites for her support of our organization.
Patrick Walder is from Zurich and is working as a campaign coordinator of Amnesty International in Bern where he is leading the public relations in the areas of security and human rights. From 2001 to 2009 he was IKRK deputy in areas of conflict in Africa and Asia. Prior to this he was journalist in Zurich and Berlin. Since his return to Switzerland he is interested in peace development and development assistance and he is glad to support our projects in Zanzibar.
Together with the two former board members Thomas Sacchi (president) and Fabian Bumbak (scientific advisor) Andrea and Patrick form the new managing board. Connie and Doro Sacchi and Christian Vaterlaus resigned from the managing board but remain active members and Christian remains managing director.
Revised Constitution
The basic intention of the constitution remains unchanged. Most improvements have been done in the chapter membership. In the sections 'managing board' and 'company management' the duties and responsibilities have been stated more precisely and in the chapter 'liability to contribution' the refunding has been regulated clearly.
